Advanced Parkinson’s Disease: Phase III

Recruitment challenges:
  • Subjects had to be taking a specific dosage of PD medication
  • Some of the visits were very long which was difficult for the advanced patients
  • Entry criteria was very strict with specific lab values and tests
  • Sites had lost interest in recruiting for this trial and were not spending time in identifying and pre-screening patients
  • Most sites did not have a strong internal database of this specific patient and need to recruit externally but did not have the expertise to do so
  • There was not central call center to pre-screen external referrals

  • Designed and implemented a robust national recruitment campaign that reached directly into the PD patient population for the purpose of direct referrals to the trial sites
  • Used our in-house call center to pre-screen potential participants and refer eligible and interested callers to the trial sites
  • Followed up on each referral to either a screening visit or disqualified by a more in-depth phone screen conducted by the trial site
  • Worked with major non-profit groups to reach into the patient populations
  • Designed and implemented programs to re-engage sites with the study to ensure this trial became a priority for enrollment

End Result:

The trial successfully met and exceeded its enrollment goal and timeline
